Science Club Spring Term 1 2025
We began our Spring Term science club by using 4 ingredients to create a storm in a jar. We also used our knowledge of evaporation to create pictures of snowflakes using different salt solutions.

Science Club Autumn 2024
We are having a lot of fun in our after school science club.
Each week the science is themed, giving our pupils the opportunity to explore a wide breadth of science over their time in the after school club.

Sustainability Club 2024 - 2025
We began the new Autumn term by starting to tidy up our vegetable garden. We weeded and sorted out some plants, and found we had some leeks that needed to be harvested!

Cumbria Youth Climate Change Conference 2024
The Cumbria Youth Climate Conference was held at Whitehaven Academy on Friday, 5th July. The event was attended by a large number of Primary Schools from all over Cumbria, all with the same interest of finding out what they can do to help address the issue of climate change.
St Patrick's had 3 Climate Change Ambassadors attend the conference and they had a wonderful day, taking part in activities linked to recycling, nature and the impact of climate change on their world. The Ambassadors got lots of ideas to bring back to school!

Eco Club
We have been very busy this year in our Eco Club. The aim of the club is to use sustainable products for our arts and crafts and also use those left over bits and pieces that seem to lurk in classrooms and cupboards, and also go outside and see how we can improve our school grounds making it an even lovelier learning environment for pupils and staff. We are mindful of the environment and wildlife in our after school club.
During Autumn term we:
- made bonfire pictures using leaves picked up from Curwen Park
- made bird feeders to help during the cold winter months
- weeded our school grounds to clear the rubbish
- made our grounds ready for new planting.
- used recycled cardboard rolls and wool that we already had in school to make little bobble hats - that we think looked amazing!
During Spring term we:
- planted lots of wildflowers
- planted herbs in some pots around school
- filled bird feeders
- started weeding
Now it is summer, we are:
- trying to keep on top of the weeding
- filling bird feeders
- watering our vegetable beds
- finding lots of pollinators in our wild flower garden
