Year 2

Welcome to Year 2!

Mrs Hamer is the Year 2 teacher.

Mrs Waugh is the Year 2 teaching assistant.

Mrs Scott teaches in Year 2 on Tuesday morning. 

Mr Wise takes Year 2 for PE every Wednesday morning.

Homework Tasks

Reading books are given out on Monday and returned to be changed on Thursday.

Reading books given out on Thursday will be returned to be changed on Monday. 

Monster phonics books are to be returned daily. 

Mathletics tasks will be set on Friday for completion the following Friday. 

Year 2 were lucky enough today to have a visitor in from the Nat West Bank to help run a workshop.  Children found out about budgeting and what a profit was.  They listened to a presentation and then were given a budget of £25.00 to buy everything they needed to run a new smoothie shop.  Children got a real sense of money through this activity - and there are some budding entrepreneurs who really enjoyed themselves!

Year 2 have been looking at the book A Tale of Two Shoes by Helen Haraldsen.  We wrote a letter to Helen inviting her into school and asking her some questions about her book and what it is like to write books., and we were lucky enough to be paid a visit by Helen in February.  She spoke about how she found her inspiration for her stories and answered all the questions!   A fabulous time was had by all of Y2 and they learned a lot about what it is like to be an author.
